The Government Owns Your House
Frank Burns in the long running TV series M*A*S*H was always on the lookout for the threat of the communist red menace. Of course Frank saw red under every tent flap. He was always on the lookout, defending the United States of American against the red menace in Korea. I remember one show where a very tired Hawkeye asked Frank what the Communists wanted. Frank’s response went something like this. “They want everything we have. They even want our toilets.” Hawkeye then takes it upon himself to send them the Officers bathroom.
While we all laugh at the wonderful antics of the M*A*S*H cast in endless reruns, I do have a question – Why are we all sleeping while socialism, which is the basis of communism, quietly creeps into the fabric of the United States?
No, I’m not a conspiracy theorists finding threats under every tent flap. However, when you look at what some political leaders want to do with their control in our lives, it’s nothing more than communism. Let me point out I’m not talking about listening for terrorist phone calls. No, I’m talking about things like socializing health care and having the government pay for our everyday needs.
And now, as announced over the weekend, the government now owns your house. How in the world did this one slip under the radar? How in the world can we believe the pundits telling us this is for our own good? Hello…is there anyone listening to what’s really going on here?
If you flew by the above sentence, let me state it again — If you are a homeowner, the government may very well own your house today!
How is it possible for the government to own your house?
It’s quite simple really. The federal government has just taken over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They say it’s to bail out the companies in the midst of the credit crisis. However, don’t be fooled by the political gobbledygook of the spin doctors. This means the federal government now owns your home. It’s also coming at a very steep price. How steep? The government takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will cost taxpayers – that’s you and me – $25 billion dollars! Yes, you read that right, it’s billion with a B.
During the second quarter of this year, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lost a combined $3.1 billion dollars. While they both claim to have sufficient funds to make it through the current crisis in the real estate market, some were concerned that the cushion dollars would eventually disappear with foreclosures piling up. Reality is this, banks and lenders brought the crisis on themselves. They were the ones giving money out to anyone and everyone who asked. If Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac say they have the money to cover the losses – in other words, they will lose money – then let them lose the money. They brought it on themselves. But, once again we see big government wanting to get their fingers involved in everything. Once again we also see big government looking out for the rich, instead of working on the economy. The rich investors of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were afraid they would lose some money. So the government steps in to protect the rich.
As I just said, they brought it on themselves. But, instead of the rich investors paying for the mess up, we the people, the lowly taxpayers, will once again be asked to pay the bill. In the long run, this is nothing more than the government allowing socialism and communism to creep into the fabric of the United States of America.
I hope you’re happy with your elected official. The next time you speak with your government representative, make sure you tell him you’re taking really good care of your house, since he now owns it.
Just my two cents,
Dr. Rus
