Programming To Snooze By
ABC ‘Pushing Daisies’ While Others Broadcast Political Ad
If you can’t sleep tonight, just tune into the Obama Infomercial…
It’s sure to be a snoozer!
Senator Barack Obama, who thinks he knows how to manage money, has decided to throw a bunch of money around once again on senseless TV advertising. However, it appears ABC has decided a couple things when it comes to taking the money;
- They don’t need the money so they’re not airing the ad.
- Their Wednesday night line up is already hurting and they didn’t want to hurt it anymore by airing a 30 minute Senator Obama infomercial.
If you don’t want to snooze to Obama tonight, ABC will snooze you with their already struggling Wednesday line up of an hour long Pushing Daisies, followed by episodes of Private Practice and Dirty, Sexy Money.
Buying Votes & Thanking Networks
In what is pretty much a 30 minute infomercial, Senator Obama plans to make what he’s calling his final case before the American people as to why he is best suited to become the nation’s 44th President. The infomercial will air on CBS, NBC and FOX at 8:00pm Eastern Time. ABC, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company, declined to run the show. It’s also estimated that the program is costing the Obama campaign approximately three to five million dollars for all the networks combined.
This latest advertising technique by the Obama camp is laughable on many levels.
1) This is another example of the fact he is a reckless spender!
This is a man who says he knows how to handle money. He’s also the same man who’s single-handedly spent more money on campaign advertising than another other candidate in the history of politics. This is all for a job that pays approximately $400 thousand a year. Senator Obama apparently has no problem with recklessly spending donor money. This all sets the tone for the realization that he will have no problem recklessly spending tax payer money either.
2) He’s buying votes and thanking networks!
It’s obvious many network media outlets are supporting Senator Obama in his bid for the White House. The bias has been very clear from the get-go that what’s known as the media-elite want the liberal Obama in the White House. While the Obama campaign originally wanted to air the 30 minute infomercial on all the major networks, it’s obvious this is nothing more than a million dollar thank you check to the liberal left media who have been supporting him all along.
On top of thanking the networks, this is also an attempt to buy votes. Many will think the Senator is a brilliant man because he’s daring to do something different. He’s spending money to get a half hour of prime time TV airwaves. Don’t fall for it. He’s trying to dazzle you with bright lights. When the lights fade, so does the message.
3) Infomercials are a cash grab!
In the broadcasting industry it’s pretty much widely known that infomercials are nothing more than a cash grab for stations. Infomercials are a joke when it comes to broadcasting. Anyone, with enough money, can buy time anywhere and at any time, as long as they’re willing to pony up the dollars. With that in mind, what station wouldn’t jump at a million dollar payday for giving up 30 minutes of airtime. This is where I applaud ABC and The Walt Disney Company for not bowing to the zeros on the check. They turned down the cash grab.
Even more amazing about the cash grab idea is the fact that few people actually tune into infomercials. Most know infomercials are about as irritating as a telemarketers call during dinner time. The bang for the buck simply isn’t there. In the end, people tune out through sheer boredom, or the awareness that it’s nothing more than pushing an agenda. On top of the joke factor of infomercials, it’s also known by many that political programming is a huge tune out factor. The numbers have been dismal for Presidential debates this season, and the numbers are usually dismal for Presidential programming. That means, if you listen closely enough tonight, at 8pm you will hear the sound of clicking across the nation as people turn their TV’s off.
And, to top it all off, what will FOX do if the World Series game that was suspended on Monday night, actually resumes tonight? Will FOX pre-empt the already pre-empted baseball game? Wow! Can you imagine the Phillies or Rays fan tuning into the face of Obama instead of what could be the final game of the World Series? Florida was a key state in another election, and Obama could lose all those votes if he pre-empts THIS baseball game.
Last But Certainly Not Least…And Probably The Most Important Point…
4) This reveals that Senator Obama does not want to interact with real questions.
Throughout the entire campaign process the Obama camp has revealed time and time again they do not want to be questioned.
This is the most important point to remember here!
Senator Obama does not like to be questioned. When he is questioned, he goes into attack mode. When he is questioned, he stumbles and fumbles. When he is questioned, and gets off teleprompter, he does not do well. Many say he’s a good speaker. He is not. He’s a calculated speaker who spends more time weighing his words making sure he doesn’t say the wrong thing. He is not weighing his words to make sure he says the right thing. No, instead, Senator Obama is worried that he will say the wrong thing. He knows if he speaks quickly, his true belief system will show. As a result, he is slow, calculated and intentional in everything he says.
Senator Obama is not an eloquent speaker. He is a speaker afraid of saying the wrong thing.
With that in mind we must remember this…
What comes out of the mouth, lives in the heart.
Senator Obama does not want to face serious questions. The wanna-be-president does not what to have real interaction with anyone. Time and time again he’s avoided news shows and sidestepped real questions throughout the campaign process.
If you decide to tune into the infomercial tonight, keep this in mind…
As Senator Obama buys 30 minutes of time for his infomercial, it proves once again he is a man who does not want to be questioned. He wants to speak, with no questions asked. Is that really the person you want running the country?
Just my two cents,
Dr. Rus

I want more people to watch Pushing Daisies. I think it is unique. Well done very Tim Burton-esc. Great colors so looks great in HD. There’s mystery and great stories. So my DVR will be set for ABC tonight.
