Young Adults And Marriage
New Survey Reveals Young Adults Thoughts On Marriage

Now this is very interesting.
But, maybe it’s simply proving that we really do live in a society where things cycle around. There’s really nothing new under the sun. We simply re-discover what may have gone out of style from an earlier time.
Marriage could be coming back!
Marriage On The Comeback
In the mid-1980’s and early 1990’s survey after survey revealed most couples thought living together was fine. Apparently those saying living together was a better option of marriage, didn’t like what they were seeing with their parents. Of course that was a disturbing statistic as it seemed to stir the pot for throw away relationships. While those living together declared they were indeed committed to one another, most surveys of those who’d been living together found numerous break ups. Many discovered empty commitment, instead of fulfilling commitment.
Now a new survey finds 82 percent of young adults aged 18 to 30 plan to get married. This is an encouraging number. The same 82 percent who say they do plan to get married, have different reasons for exchanging rings.
- 87 percent cited “being in love”
- 72 percent cited a “lifelong commitment”
- 31 percent said “having children” was the reason they were getting married
The online survey of 3,600 young adults was commissioned by the National Healthy Marriage Resource Center.
I don’t know about you, but for me, I find those numbers very encouraging.
Just my two cents,
Dr. Rus

We got married when I was 22 and Rachel was 23. Even though my parents are divorced ,for us it was just how it was supposed to be. We lived together for a year first but there was never any doubt we’d tie the knot!
