Watkins glen – Sunday Race Day
It’s Race Day!
We’re setting up shop at The Glen for the Camping World Grand Prix. Green flag flies at 1:30 this afternoon. In the meantime, as usual, there’s lots to do around The Glen. The media center is starting to awake and reporters, bloggers, photographers, and even the IRL people are arriving in the room to get ready for a day of racing.
At 9:30am there’s practice as the drivers work on final tweaks in preparation for the race. The line up has Ryan Briscoe on the pole and current points leader Dario Franchitti starting 6th. He was looking strong in the final super six qualifying until he hit the wall hard coming out of the final corner on the historical road course. Scott Dixon, who’s won this race three times, starts 3rd.
