Off-Beat News
“A Particularly Embarrassing Time To Get Caught Stealing A Car”
Police in Vallejo, California arrested 24 year old Samuel Botchvaroff after he stole a car so he could go to court to make an appearance in another case where he’s accused of — stealing a car! Police busted Botchvaroff in a Range Rover after he was about to leave the courthouse. He claimed he took the vehicle because his car had been towed and he had no other way to make his arraignment.
“Wanted Man Submits Own Mug Shot to Local Paper”
A man wanted for burglary in Wales sent a picture of himself to a newspaper because he didn’t like the mug shot of him that accompanied an article about local crimes. A spokesman for the South Wales Evening Post said, quote, “He telephoned saying he was not happy with the picture and that he would send in another.” Unlike most criminals, he remained true to his word and sent in a picture of him standing next to a police van.
“Woman Nails Driving Exam On 950th Try”
68 year old Cha Sa-soon finally passed the written portion of her driver’s test last week on her 950th attempt! She had been trying to pass the test since April of 2005 and spent some 42 hundred dollars in application fees along the way. Unfortunately, Cha never scored the minimum 60 percent needed to pass. And when we say she passed, we mean “squeaked by,” since this most recent attempt earned her a 60 on the nose.
