Off-Beat News

“Grilled Cheese Sandwiches Taste Great and Make Fine Tattoos”
An Ohio restaurant that specializes in grilled cheese sandwiches is offering a lifetime discount to anyone who gets a tattoo of the classic meal. The Melt Bar and Grilled eatery in the Cleveland suburb of Lakewood is teaming up with a tattoo shop in town to offer the promotion.  The restaurant says anyone with a tattoo of a grilled cheese sandwich gets a 25 percent discount.

“Woman Charged With Theft For Not Returning Library DVDs”
A woman in Iowa City was arrested and charged with theft for allegedly failing to return DVDs she borrowed from a public library. Authorities say 23-year-old Saira Virginia Denny-Cline had been notifed by certified mail that the 53 DVDs she had borrowed months ago were “long overdue.” The letter stated she would face theft charges if the DVDs, valued at more than 13 hundred dollars, were not returned or paid for. In other overdue library item news, a person walked into the Fondulac District Library in Illinois this month to return an old vinyl record album that was checked out on February 12, 1962. According to a spokesperson, the person told a library staffer the album was found among the belongings of a family member who had died.  No fine was assessed, but it would’ve totaled $871.90.

“Teacher Suspended For Taking Students To Hooters”
An Arizona music teacher has been placed on administrative leave for taking 40 members of a high school choir to Hooters for lunch. The Arizona Republic reports Paradise Valley High School choir director Mary Segall took her students to Hooters while they were on a school trip to downtown Phoenix for a musical performance. The newspaper says Segall informed the school that Hooters was the only restaurant in the area that could accommodate a group that large, but officials believed she had other options available to her for lunch.
