Off-Beat News

“Restaurant Robbed Three Times in Four Days”
Repeat business is good for restaurants, but not when the only people coming back are thieves. Casagrande’s restaurant, in Butte, Montana, was recently robbed three times over a four-day period. Authorities say the bandits first broke in and made off with approximately 200 dollars in a tip jar.  Thieves returned the next day and once again took money from the tip jar. They then returned for a third time but left empty handed because the tip jar was empty and they couldn’t get the cash register opened. There’s no word if police have any suspects.  It’s also unclear if authorities believe the same burglars were involved in all the break-ins.

“Camel Sells for $6.5 Million”
You could spend a couple thousand on a Beetle, a Viper or a Jaguar. Or, you could spend a couple million on a camel. A man paid nearly 6.5 million dollars this week for three camels at an auction during the Dhafra Festival for Camels in Dubai. While you may be a little sheepish about ponying up that kind of money for a few camels, keep in mind that camel racing is big business in the Gulf countries.

“Quiche Ain’t For Kids”
A British supermarket recently demanded a woman show ID when she bought a slice of quiche. 24 year old Christine Cuddihy claims the cashier ordered her to provide ID to show she was over 21 when she tried to buy the cheese and onion quiche. The store says it’s not certain what compelled the employee to take such a hard stance on the purchase.
