Off-Beat News
“You Want Fries With That Camel Burger?”
The newest entrée on the menu at a restaurant in Dubai – camel burgers. For the equivalent of $5.45, patrons at the Local House restaurant can get a quarter-pound camel burger with cheese, French fries and their choice of either a soft drink or a camel milkshake. A restaurant spokesman says camel meat is the perfect choice for health-conscious diners: it’s fat-free and cholesterol-free.
“Mumbling, Bumbling Bank Robber Flees Empty-Handed”
A lack of communication skills sent a robber fleeing empty-handed from two Memphis credit unions when tellers couldn’t understand what the bandit was demanding. Authorities say the suspect walked into the first credit union and spoke to a teller, but the bank employee couldn’t understand a word she was saying. The frustrated suspect then tossed a hold-up note at the teller and fled. A few hours later, police say the same suspect entered a second credit union and just mumbled to herself while a teller asked if she needed help. Police say the suspect fumbled in her purse, pulled out a hold-up note and ran off. She tripped outside the bank, dropped a gun she was holding, jumped into a car and fled.
“Shoplifting Suspect Hides In Police Station”
Police in Riverton, Wyoming, had no problem catching a suspected shoplifter who stole a bottle of liquor from a grocery store. The man hid in a nearby building that just happened to be a police station. Officers say the man ran out of the police station moments later, apparently realizing his error, but a dispatcher spotted him and the suspect was caught by a short distance away. Police say the 26-year-old suspect was drunk.
