This open mindedness makes him an excellent newsman. I've found Dr. Rus to be an asset when I was at CNN Radio and I find him an asset now as I bring him in to talk to my worldwide audience on Paltalk.com."

Qualifying For Camping World Grand Prix

The Fast Six is on the track as the qualifying order is being set for the race for tomorrow. Dario Franchetti who was the 2nd fastest just hit the wall hard. That will of course put him back further on the starting grid for tomorrow. With just 4 minutes left in the fast six session, it looks like Ryan Briscoe could end up with pole for the race tomorrow

All in all, it’s been a great day! Many thanks to the fine IRL people as well as the Watkins Glen Media Center. They’re the best! More tomorrow!

Prep For Watkins Glen

It’s Independence Day and that means it’s time for the Indy Cars at Watkins Glen, New York. I’ve arrived and we’re off an running for a great weekend of racing. First off I need to say thanks to Brian Neudorff for the use of his laptop! That means I can do updates here! As for action on the track, the Indy Lights are on the track for their first practice. Then it”s the Indy Car Rookies hitting the track.

As for a great promotion going on right now - there’s a special promotion with what they’re calling the Stars & Stripes hat! buy a hat at the track and $5 from the purchase goes to support troops from Fort Drum, New York, just outside of Watertown. Then, wear the hat during the Camping World Grand Prix weekend and you could be win exclusive race access! You can support the troops, and enjoy the race with extra access.

Keep checking back to the blog and I’ll update throughout the day!

Indy Car At The Glen

A number of years ago I attended the Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Up to that point, I’d always enjoyed Indy car races. However, after seeing the cars up close and live on the track, watching them on TV lost some of the glamor it once had. Then the Indy car series made a re-appearance at the Watkins Glen road course. As News Director at WACK, that opened the doors for Press Passes to the race. I must admit, I was once again hooked on these fast moving cars.

This weekend, for the fourth time, the Indy Car Series is set to hit the historic track at The Glen again.

Scott Dixon, who’s won the past three races at The Glen, once again topped the speed charts today, Friday, and it looks like he’s primed and ready for what could be his fourth in a row win at Watkins Glen.

I’m heading out to Watkins Glen tomorrow morning for Saturday coverage, and I’ll be back for the race on Sunday too! So, if you’re a racing fan, and if all goes well, stay tuned to my blog as I hope to make some posts along the way live from Watkins Glen during the weekend.

Just my two cents,
Dr. Rus
