"Dr. Rus doesn't put himself into a box. Yes, he's an ordained minister. Evangelical at that. But he's not closed minded (as are some in the religious community). This open mindedness makes him an excellent newsman. I've found Dr. Rus to be an asset when I was at CNN Radio and I find him an asset now as I bring him in to talk to my worldwide audience on Paltalk.com."

08-26-08 Water Cooler News

As usual, there’s lots going on in the wonderful world of news today.

On a very local level, I was greeted by a police road block on the way to the radio station this morning. New York State Police, along with Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies, spent most of the night investigating an accident just up the street from the station. Of course the Democratic convention is underway in Colorado. Last night was ladies night, but it was also a big night for Senator Ted Kennedy. It doesn’t matter if you like him, or don’t like him, I think Senator Kennedy needs a big round of applause for appearing on stage in the midst of his health issues. He looked good and he certainly sounds like he’s not going anywhere as he declared he plans to be involved in the government of the future.

But, aside from all of those stories, there’s also ample information for those gathering at the water cooler through the day. With that in mind, and if you’re looking for a few stories to share around the water cooler today, I’d like to help out with what I call the Water Cooler News. Stories for today include;

  • Old People Insulted By Road Sign
  • Resident Gets A Bang Out Of Homemade Biodiesel Fuel
  • Trailer Park Drug Raid Yields Two Dumb Dudes

One Man’s Art…
How’s that old saying go? One mans art is another mans garbage.
Art comes in many forms. But, it always boils down to a matter of taste. However, what about spray painting public walls. When art moves into wall space does this cross the line of good taste? Does this cross the line of being art? While it may still be art, does it not end up becoming nothing more than mere vandalism? After all, the wall turned canvas finds itself the unwitting place for someones creative outlet. And what about the owner of the unsuspecting wall turned canvas? Do they not have a say in what happens to their property?
Banksy is somewhat of a wall art specialist. He comes from somewhere in England, and now he’s moved to LA. But, no one knows who he is. No one knows what he looks like. No one really knows how to contact him. That being said, how can someone actually say what he’s doing on walls, is really art. If the artist is ashamed to come forward and take responsibility for what he’s doing, I think that moves it out of the art arena, and firmly into the vandalism arena.

Just my two cents,
